Tap water tests conducted at two Florida elementary schools in the fall of 2003 revealed high levels of radium
. School officials at Suter Elementary and Cook Elementary in Pensacola alerted parents that water tests showed radium levels at double the federal safety limit.
Investigators believe the source of radium is an underground plume linked to a toxic waste site. Water wells near the toxic site have since been closed down. Local residents fear the contamination may affect residential areas near the school.
See your doctor if you live near Suter or Cook Elementary and you have experienced serious health problems. In addition, it may be important to contact an attorney
who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits
within which you must commence suit.
