A California insulin pump manufacturer is recalling more than 160,000 infusion sets after hundreds of users were hospitalized for high blood-sugar levels. Medtronic MiniMed issued a recall of Paradigm Quick-set Plus brand insulin infusion sets after discovering the adhesive used to attach the tubing to a patient's body was coming loose on a number of pumps, causing the device to disconnect. Insulin flow was subsequently disconnected leading to elevated blood-sugar levels in about 200 diabetics.

Users of the Paradigm brand are advised to return the device immediately. If the pump must be used, blood-sugar levels should be monitored frequently.

See your doctor if you have suffered injuries due to a Medtronic Paradigm Quick-Set Plus insulin infusion set. In addition, it may be important to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
