A man claiming he was molested while enrolled at Mary Help of Christians School in Tampa has filed a lawsuit against the day school, the fourth one to be filed in the last three years. Richard Peterson Jr., of Miami, alleges a former school principal, Father Kevin O'Brien, molested him on several occasions during his enrollment from 1976 until 1979.

Peterson claims the abuse took place in O'Brien's office during the last two years he attended Mary Help of Christians. O'Brien, after whom the school named an academic award, passed away in 1981.

Salesians of Don Bosco, a Catholic order that runs the school in New York, said there would be an investigation. A number of Salesian priests have been accused of sexual misconduct in the past.

If you or a family member has been abused by a Mary Help of Christians School employee in Tampa, it may be important to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
