Deerwood - Starke, Florida: Overview

Public health officials have found Trichloroethylene, a cancer-causing chemical, in seven drinking water wells in the Deerwood neighborhood of Starke, Florida. The source of the contamination has not been identified. Bradford County officials claim that the contamination does not pose an immediate health threat even though the levels found exceed the maximum allowable under state regulations.

Trichloroethylene is primarily used in industrial solvent applications.
