Pfizer, Inc., manufactures Cardura (Doxazosin Mesylate) in the United States. It is prescribed for the treatment of
hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia, a non-cancerous enlarged prostate. When used for the treatment of high blood pressure, Cardura relaxes and widens blood vessels to allow for easier blood flow.
Cardura was recently linked to a possible increased risk of congestive
heart failure,
heart attack and
stroke.
Cardura is one of the top 50 prescriptions filled in the United States. See your doctor if you are concerned about the safety of this drug.
