Asphyxia
Asphyxia occurs when too little oxygen gets to the lungs, and too much carbon dioxide accumulates in the
lungs
. The human body requires a certain amount oxygen to survive, and it will die unless it receives a constant supply.
If the muscles of the diaphragm do not work properly, the body will asphyxiate in about four minutes time.
