Ameriquest Mortgage Co. is facing allegations of fraud in a number of nationwide lawsuits that claim the company falsifies documents to allow the easy approval of loans. The latest suit, filed by three Tampa, Florida women, alleges Ameriquest employees altered documents to show each had a mutual fund account balance of over $25,000. While one woman's balance was accurate, the other two women had no such investments. According to the lawsuit, Ameriquest workers taped information from the women without funds onto copies of the third woman's legitimate mutual fund account.

Attorneys representing the plaintiffs say customers are lured by promises of cash back deals but after approval are left with higher interest rates and fees. By altering documents, says the suit, employees of the California-based company can easily approve these loans. Ameriquest Mortgage is one of the largest lenders to customers with poor credit in the United States.

If you have been the victim of a fraudulent mortgage transaction, it may be important to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
